Charles1 ALLEN, b. say 1623 [He deposed twice with ages: In 1667 he was 40 or thereabouts and in 1683 he was 60.] He first appears in records at Portsmouth, N.H. (then Strawberry Bank) in a distribution of land in the year 1657. He was married first to a woman about whom nothing is known, but that she was the mother of his eldest child Mary. He married about 1667, Susanna HUGGINS, the daughter of John and Bridget (---) Huggins. He deeds land to her prior to their marriage and in said deed mentions his daughter Mary.
He appears in many other records, the last of which is a deed for life support dated 7 October 1705 [New Hampshire Provincial Deeds 7:175]. He had six children by Susanna: Daniel, Susanna, Martha, Charles, Jude, and John. (M. Hollick)

Know ye that I Charles Allein of Greenland of ye town of Portsmouth in New Hampshire, husbandman, for and in consideration of ye love and affection which I bear towards my well beloved son Daniel Allein, have given, granted, and by these presents do freely, clearly and absolutely give and grant to my well beloved son Daniel Allein, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, all and singular my farms and meadow ground, lying and being in Greenland, in the town and Province aforesaid, butting and bounding as followeth: Beginning eight rods from the house that was formerly Philip Lewis's, running North West and by West, ----, to a Hemlock tree(?) fourty fower rod, and from thence South and by West to a white oak tree marked, and upon ye (same points?) to a Cart path being about thirty five rod further: and from thence to a hemlock nord(?) to the same Cart path, marked, to ye eastward of a howis, formerly called Wm Davis's hous, and from thence along the Cart path north eight rods of ye mill dam; and from thence upon a straight line to ye ----- beginning, containing about fourty acres more or less, with all woods, trees, orchards, houses, barns, rights, priveleges and appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to Hold the same, all moveables and chattels to my aforesaid son Daniel Allein, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever; And I do by these presents before the ensealing hereof, order my well beloved son Daniel Allein to pay these legacies, as follows, viz To my two daughters Susannah and Martha five pounds a piece in good current pay, five months after marriage; and to my son John five pounds, and a hors as he comes to ye age of twenty one years. And as to my son Charles, I have formerly given him his portion in land, as will appear under my hand. Her aunt Mary and Charles Allen Jr test. for her, and as she was Mercy Allen of Boston in 1701, it is prob. that Allen was the ch.'s fa. and m. her."
