Information from Ruth Buenting, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada - documented from Salem Ma vital records or from the Dodge Family Bible and other family resources.
Joseph True was a famous woodcarver in Salem; second only to Samuel McIntyre. He carved the eagle on the Salem Custom House which is mentioned in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Scarlet Letter".

When his wife died in 1858, Joseph True moved to Peoria, Illinois to join his children, Deborah True and her husband Samuel Dole Dodge.
