He went west at an early age, first to Winona, Minn., then to La Crosse, Wis. where he worked with his brother J.H.Marden, then to Sheboygan, Wis. and finally to Oshkosh in 1888. He was in the concrete business, a contractor.

Moved to Massachusetts, but returned to take care of his mother Lucy and inherited the home farm. His brother John was set to inherit, but his wife did not get along with her mother-in-law, and so Nathan returned to Chichester about 1835.

Probably he and his wife were buried in the old part of the McClary Cemetery in which the old fieldstones were removed.Marriage Notes (Susanna Berry)
Nathan was chosen constable in Epsom in 1753, being then thirty-two years old. He served as selectman, was town clerk 1755-1770, and was the first deacon of the church. In 1784 he owned the land east of the Mountain road. He died between May 27, 1808 and November 2, 1811. (John Mark Moses)

A certain tract of land in the town of Epsom, containing 50 acres, which take its beginning on the southside of East Street in said town and runs ESE 50 rods by said street then SSW 160 rods, thene WNW 50 rods then NNE 160 rods to the place where it first begun. -James Marden

In the name of God Amen. This twentieth Day of April 1787 - I Nathan Marden of Epsom Husbandman being advanced in years, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore, calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die - do make & ordain this my last Will and Testament, this is to say principally & first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it & my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the distintion of my Executor here after named, nothing doubting but the general Resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching such worldy estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give bequeath and dispose of the same in the following manner:
1ly Imprimis I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Hannah Marden ten bushels of corn one hundred weight of pork with value equated it thereto, the keeping of one cow and three sheep, wood hauled to the door and cut up fir for the fire, suffiecient to keep one fire, all of which is to be delivered & done for my wife yearly & every year during her natural life, also I bequeath to my wife Hannah Marden the south west room in my house together with a privilege in my cellar for keeping such articles as are geven to her in this Will that are necessary to be kept in a cellar and also one barrel of cider yearly during her natural life.
2ly Imprimis I give & bequeath to my well beloved son James Marden my wall Pew in the Meeting House in Epsom to be his forever and five shillings to be paid to him by my executor.
3ly Imprimis I give unto my grandson Nathan Marden Clifford five shillings to be paid to him by my Executor within one year after my decease. I give my grandson James Clifford five shillings to be paid to him in one year after my decease.
4ly Imprimis I give to my grand daughter Sarah Clifford six shillings to be paid to her within one year after my decease.
5ly Imprimis I give to my grand daughter Hannah Clifford six shillings to be paid to her within one year after my decease.
6ly Imprimis I give to my grand daughter Susanna Marden Clifford six shillings to be paid to her within one year after my decease.
7ly Imprimis I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter Judith Marden five pounds to be paid to her within two years after my decease and also all the Household furniture in my possession that was left to her Mother Susanna Marden late deceased to be her own forever.
8ly Imprimis I give & bequeath to my beloved son Nathan Marden whom I constitute and make and ordain my only & sole Executor of this my last will and testament all my homestead farm with all my farming tools & utensils of every kind and all my out lands with every other article that is not before mentioned of my estate real and personal and I do hereby utterly disalow and revoke all & every other former settlement or will by me in any way before this time named, willed and bequeathed satisfying & confirming this & no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the year and day above within signed sealed pronounced and declared by the said Nathan Marden as his last will & testament in presence of us, - Nathan Marden
