Birth based on Greenland, NH Baptismal date. From Rockingham probate "Samuel Allen Jr., allowed to be Guardian unto Furnal Wallace (son of Nathaniel Wallis, late of Epsom in said county, deceased) a minor upward of 14 years of age, Jan. 27, 1772)
v. Nathaniel4, baptized in 1724 [Greenland VRs, p. 64], died at Epsom before 27 January 1772, when his son has guardianship papers filed. [Evans, Rockingham Probate Abstracts, II:982]. In those papers Furnald Wallis is called the son of Nathaniel Wallis of Epsom, a minor over 14. Nathaniel4 apparently married a Mary FERNALD, by whom he had one son: Furnald Wallis. Furnald is mentioned as a grandson in the will of William3 Wallace. Furnald left his own will dated 12 February 1796 and proved 19 September 1796 wherein he is called Furnald Wallis of Lee, yeoman. His sole legatee was his mother Mary Wallis. [Helen F. Evans, Abstracts of The Probate Records of Strafford County, New Hampshire 1771-1799 (Heritage Books, 1983), p. 178)]. Furnald appears in a list of taxpayers in 1787 from Lee [NHSP 12:392] He also was part of Col. Joshua Wentworth's regiment on 20 July 1776, enlisting with Capt. Harper. [NHSP 14:312, 338] From his will it is implied that he never married and nor had children. Mary Fernald's name is deduced from her son's will (name Mary) and his given name, however, her place in the Fernald family has not been found. Furnald was born before 1758 and his parents were therefore married before then. So Mary is born say 1727-1732. She was alive in 1796. (research M. Hollick)
General Notes: Wife - Mary Fernald
Mary Fernald's name is deduced from her son's will (name Mary) and his given name, however, her place in the Fernald family has not been found. (Research of Martin Hollick)
