Epsom Congregational Church Records
1818, Sept. Mr. John Brown

Epsom Cemetery Records
McClary Cemetery

Of the children of John and Sarah, William married Lucretia Gray and lived and are buried in Epsom; daughter Elizabeth married Joseph Yeaton, and lived and are buried in Epsom; Joseph married Rachel Locke and is to have resided in Epsom, though I do not know when or where, nor find any burial; Abigail married Jonathan Philbrick and had a son Jonathan Curtis Philbrick, named for the Epsom minister, so they also were in Epsom for a time; Sarah married a Burnham and also lived in Epsom. With all these Epsom ties, it is most likely these are the parents buried in the cemetery. All indications printed elsewhere give the death of John Brown as January 21, 1807 in Rye, NH. Sarah to have died, again according to info in the Rye Vital Records, died age 91 in 1852. I find no Sarah Brown in 1850 census in Rye. According to the same printed info, from Rye Records, Parson's History of Rye, Locke Genealogy and Brown Genealogy, John was born Nov. 13, 1759 and Sarah about 1760. Using the dates on the Epsom tombstones and subtracting the ages at time of death, the Epsom Browns, John and Sarah, match these birth dates. Dolbeer's death records record the death of the widow Brown in April of 1826 - the same as Sarah Brown in the McClary Cemetery. Epsom Church records record the death of John Brown in September of 1818, matching the grave of John Brown in the McClary cemetery. It would not appear that any earlier printed source knew of these burials, and, I believe that they are the proper dates and burial places of John Brown and Sarah (Allen) Brown.

General Notes: Husband - Nathan Gove

Information on this family from the GOVE BOOK, 1922, by William Henry Gove and supplemented by research of Elaine Morris.
Book of gove "First lived in Deerfield and removed to Wilmot, NH about 1796 and subsequently to Andover, NH."

General Notes: Wife - Sarah Allen

From NHVR (no parents given)
Sally Allen Feby 6, 1773, Stratham, NH 2nd child. Reported from Wilmot, NH Jany 15, 1906.
Death from "The Book of Gove"

The couple moved to Wilmot NH, where Sally's brother Joseph Allen joined them a few years later.
Nathan Gove and Joseph Allen are enumerated just a few houses from one another in 1820, Wilmot.
In 1840, Samuel and Sally (Gove) Tenney had a male age 60-69 and 2 females 60-69 living in their Wilmot household. In 1850, Nathan Gove, age 79, was part of their household.
The elder male and one of the elder females in 1840 were almost certainly Nathan and Sally (Allen) Gove.

Notes: Marriage

Deerfield Church records run to 1787 and resume 1795, so this marriage would appear to have taken place during the period of missing years.
