General Notes: Wife - Jane Wallace

Lang Genealogy corrects Parson's History of Rye in making Ralph Wallace, George Wallace who married Anna Shortridge - however, they attribute Jane as their child. Later historians, and in particular articles in the Boston Transcript, having found the Will of William Wallace which names the heirs, clearly gives Jane as the daughter of William and Jane (Drake) Wallace, thus being the namesake of her mother which makes sense. William and George were brothers, both sons of George Wallace the immigrant.

Jane³, born say 1677, m. before 1699 (if she were his only wife), Stephen² LANG, son of Robert¹ and Ann (Williams) LANG. He was born say 1675 and died before 1739. Perhaps she was the wife of Stephen Lang mentioned as a member of the North Church in Portsmouth in 1699. [New Hampshire Genealogical Record 4:49] A list of possible children are given at Gen. Dictionary of Me. and N.H., p. 413: Benjamin, Stephen, Samuel, Lyman, Thomas, William, Deliverance, Sarah and Abigail.
