Buried in the Wells-Brown Cemetery, off New Rye Road, Epsom, NH. Died age 54. The orginal fieldstone marker and a newer marker remain, although nothing is currently standing in the cemetery (1997) and all stones are either broken or buried. According to the 1790 and 1800 Census for the Town of Epsom, NH, Joseph and Abigail had four boys and three girls. All named in will of their father.
John Frost - 1777 R 108-422 John Frost of Kittery to Simeon Towle and Joseph Brown, both of Rye, all title in land in Epsom being the 75th in number in the third range.
1778 R 109-211 Charles Frost of Falmouth to Joseph Brown, tailor and Simeon Towle, yeoman, both of Rye, , land in Epsom being the 75th lot in number in the third range, it being the lot laid out to my grandfather John Frost, late of Newcastle, his right bequeathed by him to my grandmother Mary Frost who conveyed the same to my father Charles Frost, late of Falmouth.

WILL OF JOSEPH BROWN OF EPSOM
Be it remembered by these presents that I Joseph Brown of Epsom in the county of Rockingham and State of New Hampshire, husbandman, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (vizt)
Firstly I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Abigail Brown, one third part of all my real estate during her natural life, also all my household furniture forever, also one cow and four sheep always to be kept for her winter and summer on the farm on which I now live. Also one horse beast, the red mare which I now own and is to be kept as the above stock is to be.
Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Wells, ten dollars to be paid her in three years from the day of my decease.
Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Nabby Dowst ten dollars to be paid in three years from the day of my decease.
Also I give and bequeath to my sons Joseph Brown and Elick Brown two thirds of all my real estate forever after my decease and the other third after my wife's decease, all of which is to be divided in equal shares between the said Joseph and Elick Brown and if they the said Joseph and Elick shall not agree in dividing said estate, they shall appoint three men to divide it and the division which the said there men whom they may appoint shall make, shall be final and conclusive to the said Joseph and Elick Brown forever. Also I give to the said Joseph and Elick Brown all my neat stock, horses and sheep except what I have disposed of above and one cow and four sheep which I shall herein after give to my daughter Ruth Brown. Also I give to the aforesaid Joseph and Elick Brown all notes and other demands due to me from any person or persons and I hereby order them that they the said Joseph and Eleck Brown do pay and discharge all demands which shall legally come against me or my estate after my decease whether made hereto fore or made hereafter together with the funeral charges, all to be paid out of my real estate together with the legacies heretofore and hereafter mentioned in this my last Will.
Also I give to my daughter Ruth Brown sixty dollars, also one cow and four sheep.
Also I give to my son Jonathan Brown one hundred dollars to be paid out of the aforesaid real estate which I have given to my sons Joseph and Elick Brown in this my last will and said money to be paid the said Jonathan at his arrival to the age of twenty one years.
Also I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Brown one hundred dollars to be paid the same way and manner as my son Jonathan is to be as above.
And lastly as to the rest residue and remainder of all my personal estate goods and chattels of what soever kind name or nature I give to my aforesaid sons Joseph and Elick Brown in equal shares both of whom I hereby appoint Executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

Will of Joseph Brown of Rye
In the name of God, Amen, October 28, 1771,
I Joseph Brown of the parich of Rye in the province of New Hampshire and County of Rockingham, husbandman, being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks being to God, Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body & Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make & ordain this my Last will & Testament Thatis to say principally & first of all, I recommend my soul into the Hands of God That gave it & my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God & as touching such Wordly Estate as God has Blessed me with n this Life, I give and dispose of in the following manner and form -
Imprimus I give and bequesth unto my Beloved wife Abigail the improvement of one third part of all my real Estate according to Law; & also all my moveables in my house.
Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth Goss the wife of Jonathan Goss fifty shillings lawful money to be paid her within one year after my decease by my Executor here in after mentioned.
Item I give to my son Joseph Brown ten acres of land in Rye aforesaid on the west side of my land bounded south westerly on the Road, North westerly on land of Richard Jenness Esq., north easterly on land of Deacon Francis Jenness carrying the same width from the road down to the deacons land so as to contain ten acres also one acre of thatch ground.
Item I give to my son Job Brown ten pound lawful money to be paid him at the age of twenty one years by my Executor.
Item I give to my daughter Abigail Brown one cow & seven pounds ten shillings lawful money to be paid her at the age of eighteen years or marry age day if sooner by my Executor
Item I give unto my son Jona(than) Brown all my land in the town of Epsom be the same more or less also five shillings
Item I give unto my son James Brown twenty acres of land in Rye aforesaid on the north side of the Road bounded southerly on the road, easterly on land of Jonathan Towle, northerly on land of Deacon Francis Jenness carrying the same width as the fence runs as to contain 20 acres, also one acre of thatch ground running from Sandy Beach
Item I give unto my son Samuel Brown twenty acres of land on the south side the road in Rye aforesaid bounded northerly on the road, easterly on land of Jonathan Towle, southerly on land of Abraham Drake bearing the same width as the fence runs until the said twenty acres are completed also one acre of that ground in Rye aforesaid adjoining to thatch ground which I sold to Isaac Jenness.
Item All the remainder of my Estate real & personal where soever and whatsoever I give unto my son Richard Brown ordering him to pay all my just debts and funeral charges and also the above legacies and my will is that all I have given away as above should be to them, their heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever.
Lastly I do hereby appoint my wife Abigail and my son Richard Brown to be my sole Execution to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other will or wills, testament or testaments heretofore made by me. Jos. Brown (his mark)
