Given land by his father (Exeter Deeds 112-156)
Joseph4 born say 1720. Dies between 1 July 1771 when land he received of his father is mentioned and he called "Son Joseph Wallis," and 1 June 1772, when he is not mentioned in the will of his father. This is the only record on his existence. No marriage record or children can be ascribed to him. The actual deed for said land is not extant. He likely dies without issue. (M. Hollick)

Joseph Wallis of Grendland to Elizabeth Batchelder Decem 14, 1775, probably second marriage. (Deerfield Church Records)
176:155, 4 May, 1781, John Casey of Epsom, yeoman to Joseph Wallace of Deerfield, yeoman, land in Epsom being part of the original right of Richard Neal and numbered 87 in the third Range, 79 acres, the same purchased by Casey at public auction of Capt. James Gray, Collector for said Epsom, 7 February 1781, for the taxes assessed.
181:352, 4 October 1796, Joseph Wallace of Epsom, yeoman to Thomas Bickford of Epsom, cordwainer, 25 acres, part of Lot. No. 87 in the third range. Rec. 23 April 1808.
171:135, 6 Nov. 1804, Joseph Wallace of Epsom, yeoman to Elijah Lock, Jr. of Epsom, yeoman, 54 acres in Epsom, Lot 89 in the third range and by land I sold to Thomas Bickford. 54 acres together with all the buildings thereon. Elizabeth releases dower but signs as Betsey Wallis. Rec. 1 May 1805.
ii. Joseph5, baptized 1741 [Greenland VRs, p. 85], married first at Rye, 23 November 1769 [Rye VRs, p.167] Margaret FULLER, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary (Scadgell) Fuller, and Joseph's third cousin. Margaret was born at Rye 17 January 1751 and died before 1775. Joseph married second at Deerfield, 14 December 1775, Elizabeth BATCHELDER. Joseph is named a grandson and the executor in his grandfather's will in 1772. On 31 March 1775, Joseph Wallace of Greenland, yeoman, sold to William Wallace, 40 acres in Greenland. No relationship is stated in the deed [but this is his uncle] [Rockingham Co. Deeds 109:316]. On 19 March 1777, Joseph Wallis of Deerfield, y eoman sells to Clement March, two acres of salt marsh in Greenland, his grandfather left him. [Rockingham Co. Deeds 109:588] This firmly shows that the Deefield Joseph and the Greenland Joseph are the same person. Joseph signed the Association Act from Deerfield on 20 June 1776 [NHSP 30:43] Joseph is then listed on 15 July 1777 in Capt. Simon Marston's Co. in Rhode Island. He is noted as serving 6 months, 7 days from 1 July 1777 to 7 January 1778. [NHSP 15:267, 269] On 17 June 1780, Joseph Wallis of Deerfield sold to Joseph March, 60 acres in Deerfield. [Rockingham Co. Deeds 125:238]. On 4 May, 1781, John Casey of Epsom, yeoman to Joseph Wallace of Deerfield, yeoman, land in Epsom being part of the original right of Richard Neal and numbered 87 in the third Range, 79 acres, the same purchased by Casey at public auction of Capt. James Gray, Collector for said Epsom, 7 February 1781, for the taxes assessed. [Rockingham Co. Deeds 176:155]. At that point Joseph moved to Epsom and is enumerated there in the 1790 census with a household of one male over 16, 4 males under 16, and three females. On 4 October 1796, Joseph Wallace of Epsom, yeoman sold to Thomas Bickford of Epsom, cordwainer, 25 acres, part of Lot. 87 in the third range. [Rockingham Co. Deeds 181:352]. He is enumerated at Epsom in the 1800 census with a household of one male 10-15, one 16 to 26 and one over 45; one female 10-15 and one female over 45. On 6 November 1804 Joseph Wallace of Epsom, yeoman sold to Elijah Locke, Jr. of Epsom, yeoman, 54 acres in Epsom, Lot 89 in the third range and by land I sold to Thomas Bickford. Elizabeth releases dower but signs as Betsy Wallis. [Rockingham Co. Deeds 171:135]. He must be then the Joseph Wallis enumerated in the 1810 census in Moultonborough to where his brother had previously moved. His household in 1810 had a man over 45, a woman 16 to 25 and a woman over 45. This is the last record that can be identified with Joseph. He leaves no probate papers. He is also the first Wallis for whom I cannot find any children, although he obviously had as many as six. His family remains a mystery. (research of M. Hollick)

Notes
General:
Joseph Wallace (Jr.) is in Moultonborough in the 1850 census age 33. He is then in Center Harbor in 1860 age 46. He dies before the 1870 census when his wife is listed alone back in Moultonborough. Based on name, age, and location, this likely the third child we can assign to Joseph (Sr.). Joseph (Jr.) was born ca. 1816. M. Hollick research.
