From the Valley Times August 26, 1892
The late Ephraim Locke, who died on the 12th inst. was the son of Deacon Ephraim Locke. He was born in 1809 and lived in this town until 18 years ago, when he sold his farm to J.C. Philbrick, and moved to Suncook. While living here he served on the Board of Selectmen ten years, eight of which he was chairman, and was elected member of the legislature. He had been a member of the Free Baptist Church since 1835. His wife, who was a daughter of Rev. Samuel Dyer, died a few years since, and his eldest daughter, wife of Winthrop Fowler of Pembroke, soon followed her mother. For the past two years he has resided with his only remaining child, Mrs. James W. Fowler, at Short Falls, where he has been most devotedly cared for during the many months of his infirmities. His funeral was quite largely attended by the citizens of this town and Pembroke and he was buried in the family lot in Short Falls Cemetery.

Locke Genealogy gives the birth year as 1757. John Mark Moses in an article on Epsom, NH Churches (Granite Monthly) mentions the gravestones of Ephraim Locke and Ephraim Locke Jr., and gives the dates off of them. The date of birth is information is still somewhat legible (1998), except for the last digit of the year of death, however John Mark Moses gives it as 1771. He viewed the gravestones some 80 years earlier. Buried in the McClary Cemetery, Epsom, NH. Died age 10.
Either Ephraim born 1757 died young, or is one in the same as that on the gravestone.

Buried McClary Cemetery, Epsom, NH. Died age 71-9-0. He was a Deacon of the Free Will Baptist Church, by occupation a farmer.
Funeral by Rev. Moses Quimby, and he writes "Sad News. Dea. Ephraim Locke is no more. He drowned himself in his well. He probably was insane. This funeral was attended by Bro. E (Enoch) Place and myself. For many years he was very useful in leading souls to Christ. In exhortation he was decidedly gifted. In later years he has not walked with the ch. owing to some differences of opinion, till very recently he has felt different, attended the meeting of the ch in part, and seemed more like himself."
