Geraldine Saturley, 86, passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side on Monday, September 5, 2011, three weeks and a day after the death of her husband of 66 years, Howard C. Saturley.
She was born in Epsom June 13, 1925, to Warren and Gladys Fowler. After graduating from Pembroke Academy, she attended Simmons College in Boston. She married Howard Saturley in 1945, following his return from World War II. An early advocate of women's rights, Gerry was a full partner in Howard's many entrepreneurial ventures. Gerry raised five children while simultaneously maintaining a very active participation in civic, political, and business affairs, proving to her family that women really could 'do it all.' She set a standard to be reckoned with for the generations who followed.
In addition to her husband, Howard, Gerry is predeceased by her daughter, Judith Watson, and her sister, Marjorie Yeaton. She is survived by her sons, James, and his wife Vicky, of Manchester; Thomas, and his wife, Eleanor Baker, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; William, and his wife, Ellen, of Concord; and Joseph, and his wife, Margaret, of Tampa, Fla. She will also be missed by her 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and her great great grandchild, as well as her brother, Richard Fowler, and his wife, Joan, of Epsom.
The family would like to thank Mary Smith for her devotion and care to our Mother for the past five years. We also deeply appreciate the unyielding attention and love given by our Aunt Barbara and her husband Wendell Bassett.
