The second company of Light Infantry in the 18th Regiment of Militia in New Hampshire, formed in the town of Epsom, under the command of S.A. Heath, have volunteered their services to government.
Will of Simon (A.) Heath - 1829
In the name of God Amen. I Simon A. Heath of Epsom in the County of Merrimack and State of New Hampshire being in health of body and of sound and perfect memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (viz).
First I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate by my executor hereafter named.
2dly I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Heath the income and profit of one half of my homestead farm where I now live so long as she remains my widow, also the use of one half of the buildings standing thereon, the use of half the household furniture, one cow and three sheep, a horse and chaise when she may wish to ride, a sufficient quantity of fire wood hauled and cut at the door to support one fire yearly and every year during said term above mentioned, the above to be furnished by my executor.
3dly I give and bequeath to my son John M. Heath my oldest iron bound cart wheels and cart.
4thly I give and bequeath to my son Douglas M. Heath the use and benefit of the land, buildings, clothing and carding mill and all apparatus thereto belonging during the term of his natural life, after which time, it is my will that the above named property should descend to his oldest son William Heath, and in case the said William should decease before his father, then the said property is to go to Rebekah Heath, wife of said Douglas M. after his decease and the said Douglas M. Heath is to pay to my son Joseph K. Heath twenty five dollars out of the above property in one year after my decease.
5ly I give and bequeath to my daughter Betsy Weeks, wife of Samuel Weeks, the use and benefit of the land and buildings on which they now live during the term of her natural life, and from and immediately after her decease, I give and devise the same to her oldest son, Simon Weeks, Also I give to the said Betsy Weeks one good feather bed and bedding for the same, one lowcase of maple drawers.
6thly I give and bequeath to m son Andrew M. Heath the house and land which Mrs. Nancy Stevens occupies after the decease of Mrs. Stevens, also one good feather bed and bedding for the same.
7th I give and bequeath to my son Joseph K. Heath one dollar to be paid by my executor, in addition to the twenty five dollars to be paid by Douglas M. Heath in one year after my decease.
Lastly, All the rest and residue of my Estate both real and personal whatsoever, after payment of my debts, I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin M. Heath, whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

EPSOM \endash Sylvia A. Pero, 77, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at her home in Epsom surrounded by family.
She was born in Pittsfield, the daughter of Walter F. and Hattie Heath and has lived in Epsom most of her life.
She was a longtime member of the Epsom Baptist Church. She was a softball coach at Epsom Central School. She was also an Epsom supervisor of the checklist. And she was an avid Red Sox Fan.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, L. Jim Pero of Epsom; two sons, James Pero and Joe Pero, both of Epsom; four daughters, Cindy Sylvester of Pittsfield, Dawn Tuttle of Northwood, Sylvia Demeritt of Epsom and Dena Rae of Loudon; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the McClary Cemetery, Center Hill Road, Epsom, on Wednesday, March 14, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association hospice program, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord 03301.
