From the McClary Family Sketch by Horace P. McClary "Polly Allen, who later in life became Mrs. Mark Nelson, was a woman of more than ordinary ability, but without much education. She was a good mother, being extremely fond of her son, and so long as she lived never failed to make him an annual visit, usually making the journey on horseback, as the roads between their respective homes were little better than bridle paths at the time."

From St. Jonsbury Caledonian, Newspaper Death notices:
"Nelson, Mary, age 67, wife of Mark Nelson, Woodbury, VT printed 11.28.1837
Nelson, Mary, age 86, on the 15th ult., wife of Capt. Mark Nelson, Woodbury, VT, printed 12.12.1837"
It would appear the later 2 newpapers got the age at death incorrect, as age 67 is plausible.

"In Woodbury, Vt., on the 15th ult., after a long and distressing illness, which she bore with christian patience and resignation, Mary, wife of Capt. Mark Nelson, aged 66.
Marriage Notes (Andrew McClary)
There is no marriage recorded for Andrew McClary and Polly Allen, and when Polly married Mark Nelson, he name is given as Polly Allen, not Mrs. Polly McClary. About two years after the birth of son Andrew, the father joined the military and served about 10 years, and thereafter was a Clerk in Washington D.C. where he died 1811. The son was raised from age 7 to 14 at the home of Thomas Urann of Tunbridge, VT.
