WILL OF SAMUEL SEAVEY 1760
In the name of God, Amen, the first day of April one thousand seven hundred & sixty, I Samuel Sevey of Rye in the Province of New Hampshire, husbandman, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore, calling to unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of, all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the direction of my Executor, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate that God hath blessed me within this life - I give and dispose of in the following manner and form:
Imprimus I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Abigail Seavey one cow and all my household goods to her dispose amongst my children forever, also one third of all the income of my estate and one third of my house with fire wood convenient for her to be found by my Executor for and during her lifetime.
Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Ithamy Seavey the one half of my right of land in Jenness town, to him and to his heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Samuel Seavey Jr., that house and barn where he now lives, also the land he improves by said house, also the one half of my land in Jenness Town to him and to his heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Henry Seavey the one half of my land in the township of Epsom to him and to his heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jonathan Seavey the home half of my land in the township of Epsom to him and to his heirs and assigns forever, also one hundred pounds new tenor bills to be paid to him by my Executor
Item I give and bequeath to my beloved son Moses Seavey and to his heirs and assigns forever all mu real estate real and personal, wheresoever and whatsoever not other ways disposed of in this my last will.
Item, I give to my grandson Samuel Sanborn ten pounds new tenor to be paid by my Executor when he is twenty one years old and if he should die before then, to be paid to his brother Nathaniel Sanborn.
Item, I give and bequeath to my grandson Nathaniel Sanborn ten pounds new tenor to be paid him by my Executor when he comes to the age of twenty one years and if he shall die before he comes to the age of twenty one years, then to be paid to his brother Samuel Sanborn.
Item, I give unto my three daughters twenty pounds new tenor bill, each of them, namely Abigail Clifford, Mary Connor and Mehitable Blue, to be paid them by my Executor within one month of my decease.
Lastly, I do by these presence constitute and appoint my son Moses Seavey to be my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set by hand and seal the day and year aforesaid. - Samuel Seavey (his mark) Witness, Francis Locke, Henry Dow, Richard Jenness 3r.
