Notes
General:
Andrew James Kyle IV was a proud citizen of Liberty, Texas for over half a century. He was a United States veteran, serving during World War II as a crew chief of a C-47 assigned to the 50th Squadron. He was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received a degree in journalism and pursued his passion as an illustrator and cartoonist. After his service, he settled in Liberty, Texas where he worked for the Liberty Vindicator and began building greenhouses and growing chrysanthemums. His research and dedication to growing the largest and best mums proved successful as he cultivated two of his own varieties, known as "Kyle Gold" and "Kyle White". Andy Kyle, as many knew him, also collected arrowheads over the course of many decades. His private collection of arrowheads is countless. Kyle donated an impressive collection, as well, to the Sam Houston Regional Library where they are currently housed and displayed.
Andrew James Kyle IV was born on February 7, 1915 in Concord, New Hampshire. He was married to Mildred Kemper Hicks on December 30, 1943. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kemper.
Mr. Kyle passed away on March 26, 2014 while being taken care of at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. There, he received wonderful care from the entire staff and his family is truly grateful for their respect for the Veterans who have served our Country. His family would like to especially thank Dr. Fleniken and his personal nurses for the exceptional care he received.
Andrew James Kyle IV is survived by his daughter Libby Orenbaun and husband Sutton Sr., daughter Andrea Smart and husband Buddy, granddaughter Robin Land and husband Chuck, granddaughter Mandy Simeon and husband Jason, grandson Sutton Orenbaun Jr. and wife Liz, great-granddaughter Kylee Land and great-grandsons Palmer and Porter Simeon.
Mr. Kyle traveled extensively through his service and experienced many amazing events throughout his lifetime. He believed in the importance of history and heritage, hard work, dedication and pride of Country. They do not make men as true and hardworking as this anymore. His contributions to his Country, community and family have been steadfast for almost an entire century.
