GETS JAIL TERM
Man Sentenced When Wife Tells Of
Alleged Beating
Epsom, NH, May (Friday the) 13th (1938) - Harry Sherburne of this town was sentenced today to serve 30 days in the ouse of correction and pay costs of $12.50. Sherburne was arraigned before Judge Idella B. Jenness in municipal court this morning charged with beating his wife, Mrs. Edith Sherburne, who testified that her husband had knocked out one of her teeth and had badly bruised her faice. Sherburne entered a plea of not guilty, but was found guilty following the arraignment by the woman magistrate. He was arrested last night at his home by Ocer Albert H. Yeaton. (June 1, 1938) - Harry Sherburne of Epsom, NH was brought before Judge Idella B. Jenness Friday by Police Officer Albert J. Yeaton of that town for disturbing the peace. Sherburne was released from Boscawen County Farm the day before from a month’s sentence for beating his wife. Friday Judge Jenness gave Sherburne a six months’ suspended sentence provided he remained out of the state that period.
