EPSOM, Aug. 25 - Charles H. Davis of Epsom died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon while at his work on the section crew of the Suncook Valley railroad. Apparently in good health, Mr. Davis worked as usual through the day, until about 3 o'clock, when he remarked he felt dizzy. His fellow workers advised him to rest, and he was about to walk to the grass along the railroad right of way, to sit down, when he fell. Death came instantly. Help was summoned from a nearby house. Dr. F.B. Argue of Pittsfield responded immediately to a call and pronounced the death due to coronary thrombosis.
The Suncook Valley train going north was flagged and the body of Mr. Davis was taken to the Epsom depot, there to await the undertaker. Mr. Davis was 54 years of age. By a singular coincidence, Mr. Davis' father, Charles W. Davis, died in exactly similar circumstances at the age of 54. Mr. Davis Sr., was also employed as a section man on the Suncook Valley railroad. He died from a heart attack while at work on the railroad 22 years ago; and his body was taken on the train to the Epsom depot.
Funeral arrangements will be made by Gossville council, Jr. O.U.A.M., of which Mr. Davis was a charter member.
