In 1820 Matthew Tarleton bought a place on Mt. Delight, in Deerfield, NH and
taught 2 terms of school in that district. From 1833 to 1837 he lived in
Alexandria and after this in Allenstown, NH, NH then in Lowell, Haverhill,
Tyngsboro and South Framingham all in Mass. He was a cooper and later a
carpenter by trade. He was 6 feet 1 inch in height and 185 lbs in weight and
his sons were like him.
