WASHBURN, Maine \endash Edna V. Sherburne, 97, passed away with her family at her side, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015. She was a resident of Washburn, Maine since 2007 and formerly lived in Dade City, Fla. and Epsom.
She was survived by her son, Raymond and his wife, Elaine; a daughter, Susan Belisle and her husband, Kevin; and her youngest daughter, Gail and her husband, David. Edna was also survived by her brother, Kenneth Smith of Ireland and a very special niece, Pam Alston and her husband, James. Edna had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren here in the United States and also England.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice E. Sherburne in 1973; son, Stanley Potts in 2010; son, Ronald Potts in 2015; daughter, Sandra Sherburne Provencher in 2002; and eldest daughter, Patricia Sherburne Ordway also in 2015.
Edna was a native of Erith, Kent England and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, where she met her husband of 27 years. She came to the United States in 1946 and became a United States citizen. She was a long time member of the War Bride Association. Edna enjoyed people and made friends wherever she went. To the Honorable John Harvey, Judge of Probate of Wills, &c. for the County of Rockingham, and State of New Hampshire.
HUMBLY shews John Cate, of Epsom, in the County of Merrimack and State aforesaid, that he is guardian of Olive Wood of said Epsom, widow, and an insane person, by the appointment of the Judge of Probate for the County of Rockingham - that said Olive is seized of the following described real estate, to wit: a certain tract of land with the buildings thereon, situate in Epsom aforesaid, near Parson's Mill, so called, and bounded as follows - northerly and westerly by Benjamin Towle's land and Chichester line, northerly and easterly by land formerly owned by Sherburne, supposed to contain about seventy-five acres - and that it would be conducive to the interest of her the said Olive to sell the property aforesaid. Wherefore your petitioner prays that he may have liberty to sell and convey the said estate in such manner as shall be most beneficial to said Olive, and your petitioner shall ever pray.
