COMMENTS: In August 2004 a somewhat rag-tag group of would-be thespians assembled at the Scenic Theatre, Not too many people knew each other,but the mood was friendly and optemistic. The normal anticipation was there. Were there better actors there? Were there prim-donas? Would we get a part we wanted, or any part at all?

Auditions over and rehearsals commenced. In no time at all the 'players' began to mesh. While there was plenty of laughs and an occassional blooper, everyone was putting forth a good effort. If there were any barriers left, they ended with the supper at the pizza shop. To those able to go there, the break was a great ice breaker.

About two weeks before curtain up, on a Tuesday rehearsal, it was obvious that the rehearsal mood had changed. We had a play. All that remained was polishing. Now came words of encouragement and suggestions. Notes from Dee Dee, Joe, T.J., and Mal were actually kept to a minimum. We all interacted at every level to be our own best critics.

The first show found a well meshed group with determination to be the best we coud be. Our cast could feel the excitement from our audience and gave us energy, but our best support continued to come from fellow cast members.

It seemed the cast party came all to soon, but what an elegant affair. Were we in denial? Did we all sense something more was needed? Few left the cast party saying good-bye. We wished each other well and hope to see you soon. A premonition?

What's the best part of February 4th? The reharsal? The seven minute show? I think the best part is being together with the gang; seeing all my new friends and having the opportunity to portray any of the signers of the declaration.

Chet’s acting debut began at about age 4. After three and one half months of rehearsals, he had his first “senior moment” when he faced all the people at the children’s pageant on Christmas Eve in Topsfield, Mass. He enjoyed a second chance with drama and speech courses in junior high and high school. Twenty years later he joined the Pittsfield Players production of “The Sound of Music”. After that the acting ‘bug” hit. He has enjoyed roles in “South Pacific”, “Promises, Promises”, “Oklahoma!”, “Cinderella”, “Mame”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “My Fair Lady” and the list goes on, not only musicals but with dramas, comedies etc. Currently he enjoys performing with the Players, Northwood Theatre Workshop, and the Leddy Center in Epping. He and his wife Jane-Ann also sing with the “Joyful Blend”, a small choral group who have performed all over New England.
