COMMENTS: My part as John Adams-How do you play a part that the person himself acknowledges that he is obnoxious and disliked? The first thing that came to my mind was RESPECT, yes, respect for what this person did in his life and to be thankful for what he did at the time. I watched the video and tried to put some of it into the character. I tried to make him likable and feisty with an edge. It was hard to change all the emotions I wanted to portray when by nature being mad is not a natural thing for 3 hours for me. FOCUS was the key, no matter what else was going on around me, I had to admit, at times it was hard to be Franklins straight man and maintain a obnoxious manner. Being John Adams for a short period of time was an honor and privilege. Thanks for the opportunity. |
