Together with his brother John Allen, and his father-in-law Jesse Geer, Nicholes Allen signed a petition on October 5, 1792 for a lottery to build a free bridge across the Connecticut River near the ferry to Dartmouth College. Nicholas Allin and family were included in Vermont Warnings Out in a notice for Hartford, Windsor County dated 10 July 1806. The Nicholes Allen family appeared on the census for Crown Point, Essex Co, NY in 1810, but was not on the Crown Point tax rolls in 1818. In 1820 and 1830, they were residing in Tompkins county, New York. Nicholas and Anna Allen's son, Enos, married in 1832 and his children were born in Canada. Nicholas' residence is unknown in 1840. By 1850 Nicholas was living in Huron County, OH, with the James and Celinda McCray family. On December 23, 1850, he was admitted to the Huron County Infirmary where he spent the last 13 years of his life.
"WINDSOR, March 17, 1797. At a special Supreme Court convened at Woodstock, in the county of Windsor, on Tuesday last week - Nicholas Allen and John Johnson, of Norwich, were convicted of counterfeiting Dollars, and having the tools in their possession, and sentenced to have their right ears cut off - branded with the letter C on their foreheads - pay a fine of $100 dollars - cost of prosecution, and be confined in Manchester goal one year... On Saturday, they received the first part of their punishment, and the day following were sent to Manchester to receive the latter." Vermont Journal, 17 March 1797, p 3.
