GIRLS SENT TO NEW HAMPSHIRE FROM THE BOSTON FEMALE ASYLUM by Ann S. Lainhart

This place of safety took in girls to be trained to eork in service. Candidates had to be at least three years old and were housed and schooled at the Asylum until about age eleven when they could be bound out until age eighteen. Most of the girls were bound out to families in Massachusetts, but some were placed further away in states including New Hampshire.
Lambert, Elizabeth Ann: born 10 Oct. 1833; admitted Jan. 1842; 31 Oct. 1843 placed in the family of Thomas D.M. and Sarah F. Locke, Epsom, NH.
January 1842: Elizabeth Ann Lambert, a child who has neither father nor mother was offered for admission by her aunt Mary Lambert a woman of very respectable characher who has lived many years at service to the family of Mrs. [left blank]

Elizb Ann Lambert. Adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Locke of Epsom, with whom she was a real favorite. The death of Mrs. Locke and Mr. Locke's second marriage made no change in the regard in which she is held. On her being Eighteen years old Mr. Locke gave her the Fifty dollars stipulated in our indenture and assured her of a home and maintenacne so long as she should wish for it. Mr. Locke now lives in Manchester, N.H.
