EPSOM PROBATE RECORDS

WILL OF JONATHAN STEELE CHESLEY 1879


In the name of God, Amen.
I Jonathan S. Chesley of Epsom in the county of Merrimack and State of New Hampshire being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament and herein dispose of all my worldly estate in manner and form following, that is to say:


First, I order and direct my executor herein named to pay all my debts and funeral charges soon as may be after my decease.


Second, I give and bequest to my daughter Gulielma Kelly and to my two sons John E. Chesley and William A. Chesley each the sum of one dollar.


Third, I give and bequeath to my son Andros P. Chesley the sum of three hundred dollars. All of said legacies to be paid in one year after my decease.


Fourth, I give and bequeath to my three daughters, Mary J. Chesley, Arabell Chesley and Ann Chesley each the sum of seventy five dollars to be paid them respectively, on their marriage day; also a home and comfortable support on and from my homestead estate so long as they or either of them shall remain single and unmarried; they and each of them in the mean time to render aid and assistance in the domestic affairs and work pertaining to household and other necessary labor incident to females when being and living on said homestead.


Fifth, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Abigail H. Chesley all my household furniture to belong to ___ and her heirs and assigns forever.


Sixth, All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real, personal and mixed, after the payment of all my just debts, funeral charges and legacies, aforesaid, I give, bequeath and devise to my beloved wife, Abigail H. Chesley, and to my son Walter Chesley in equal proportion in common and undivided, said part or moiety to my wife to be hers so long as she remains my widow and when she ceases to be my widow, the bequest and devise the same to my son Walter Chesley, the whole to be his,his heirs and assigns forever.


Lastly, I do hereby appoint my son Walter Chesley sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will by me made.
