It affords the superintending School Committee of Epsom great pleasure to be able to report an increasing interest and improvements in most of the schools in town the present year - in most of the Districts able, faithful and efficient teachers have been employed and more interest manifested by parents - in some of the schools a very marked and decided advance in improvements have been made beyond the previous year - Indeed the teachers generally and a large majority of the scholars have done themselves much credit during both the summer and winter terms-
There has not been a single case of insubordination requiring the interference of the Committee during the past year -
Therefore the friends of common school education have occasion to congratulate themselves on the interesting and improving state of their schools and also to be able in behalf of this important department of human welfare -
It is a source of satisfaction that some of our old dilapidated - inconvenient and unhealthy school houses which have such a sad influence over the health and mental developments of our children are giving way to the erection of new and convenient houses and the remodeling of old ones - it is earnestly hoped that this improving state of things may continue to progress until our schoolhouses shall become what the best interests of our children imperiously requires -
